Pedestrian dies after mid-Tucson accident

Eddie Sagastume, age 45, succumbed on July 3, 2013, due to injuries he sustained while crossing Grant Road near North Arcadia Avenue.

On June 28, 2013 at 8:11 p.m., Tucson Police officers responded to a report of vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. Officers located a Mr. Sagastume suffering life threatening injuries. He was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. The driver of the passenger car involved was not injured.

Detectives determined that a 2001 Oldsmobile 4-door passenger car was traveling eastbound in the center lane of East Grant Road. The Mr. Sagastume was crossing Grant Road northbound at the intersection of Arcadia Avenue. The Oldsmobile struck the Mr. Sagastume. The intersection of Grant Road and Arcadia Boulevard was lit with street lamps and there was a marked crosswalk at the location. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
